Blue Seven!

I don't know if I've ever blogged about Blue Seven, and if not, I'm ashamed. Blue Seven is basically our retail big brother, and we've had a running business relationship with them for probably 3 years. Caleb is a very wise businessman and has a great eye for upcoming trends, fashion, and design. They use to be located in a small strip mall on 50th and May that was probably 1700 square feet. They expanded a couple years back to their new store on May and Grand Blvd and it seems to go on and on...and on...

Caleb Arter preaching the denim gospel:

...and on and on...

This is where they customise their TOMS shoes.

Seriously, they have more inventory than any other locally owned store I know. I would highly reccommend their store if you are looking for a gift, but don't know what to get. They also have a couple styles of jeans...

I was in the presence of good company this Friday as Caleb explained that he had invited a few people to help Blue Seven try a denim experiment. Among the great guests was Ashley Smith of No Regrets and Brass Bell Studio, Lauren Miller of Cuppies and Joe, Lindsay Zodrow of Collected Thread, and John Gorham of Elemental Coffee.

Each of us picked out a pair of raw denim jeans, and will be wearing them everyday (6 of 7 days at least) for the next 6 months. The jeans are suppose to remain raw, so that means no washing. This is the pair I'll be wearing, and I don't plan on letting the jeans rest on the 7th day.

The final product of the denim experiment is to show the different characteristics of the occupation where the jeans are worn. Ashley the tattoo artist will inevitably have ink and blood on her jeans, Lauren Miller the barista and baker will have flour and espresso on hers. My jeans will get dusty....

I'm excited for the project, all the jeans will be displayed (after the stink has been removed) at Blue Seven in April. Thanks to Caleb Arter and Jacob Paragrin for planning this project, and thank you for inviting me to participate. This week we'll be restocking a TON of new Home Sweet 'HOMA shirts at Blue Seven. Get 'em while they're hot.

Lastly, if you get the opportunity to visit the current exhibition at The Womb Gallery, I would suggest it. Very cool exhibit featuring El Kamino, R Robot, and Chip7. There are lots of great installations, and a very cool wall painted by El Kamino:

Never ever ever ever ever trust a guy that makes this face...
