Maybe it's all the rain lately that inspired me to title this post as I did. Or maybe it's because of the subject matter I have been thinking about lately. Classic Movies. I don't think it's much of a secret to those that know me well, I am a huge movie fan and more particularly, classic movies. Many nights after I have gotten home from work, I set my laptop up for more work (yes I know, I take work home...this makes it 'homework') and will often times turn my tv to the Turner Classic Movie channel.
I will avoid going into lists of my favorite movies because I think this conversation is best had face to face so I can explain the movie and why I like it. I will say this though, movies are glimpses into our imaginations. They bring us into a world we dream of. Movies present us with obstacles, challenges, and hurdles which we struggle and laugh through and eventually arive at our final destination known commonly as 'The End.'
I wanted to share a movie scene from one of the most popular movie musicals ever made. It is a scene which everyone can hum or sing along too. And as a bit of added commentary, Gene Kelly did this scene over a 2 to 3 day period while running a fever...and made it look like a walk in the park.
I've been thinking about this movie scene this week. There is nothing flashy about it. No major special effects, just water. Yet Gene Kelly takes the ordinary and delivers a memorable moment that sticks with so many of us. I like this idea. Taking something simple and making it classic. I think that is what we aim for at T & L. Creating simple designs to produce cool apparel. Its funny to compare a scene from 'Singing in the Rain' with a clothing brand, but we are everyday people, with ordinary surroundings working to create memorable apparel.
I snapped a photo in our store before I left this evening and wanted to post up on this blog. I love how simple our designs are and how great the apparel looks all hung up together. Notice the new decks Dusty mounted the other night. We've got some great apparel right now so try to get by the store soon to check it out.
Enjoy the cloudy, rainy weather while it lasts...just keep 'Singing in the rain'...
