The shop was beaming with creativity last night as Erin and Corey Robinson helped print posters while an unruly band of Drink and Draw'ers illustrated thoughts and witicisms. I can't stress enough how gracious we are to be working with such talented individuals. It's humbling being hosts of great artwork each month and inspiring to hang with established and up-and-coming artists at Drink and Draw. Check out the print for tonight's show!
Tonight will be a great showing of what I would deem "folk design" artwork. Erin has a wonderfully eclectic style and her pieces are ranging from illustrations to beautifully painted wood cuts. Her brother Ryan (a beard growing contestant) will be providing delicious finger foods, and Chelsea Cody will be performing a few acoustic songs to our enjoyment.
The prints feature iconic Oklahoma imagery of a bison with a wildflower overlay. Erin chose to use a copper and gold split fountain for the overlay which blends together into a varying gradient from print to print. The metallics from the gold and copper are reminicent of a glowing Oklahoma sunset or the reflection of sunrise on a wheat field. The inks were mixed by the artist and I don't think there could've been a better color choice. There will be (30) 12.5x19 prints available at 8:00pm tonight. The opening will last until 11pm, but Erin's work will be here until the end of the month. Join us tonight for great art, food, music, and a cold Coop Octoberfest!
