My Favorite Tees: Greg Terry

MY FAVORITE TEES, INTERVIEWDusty GilpinComment

Greg Terry has some intimidating looks. He's like 7 feet tall, has a bunch of tattoos, shaved head and a 87 year old beard. I mean look at how mean and viscious this guy is:

Okay, maybe he doesn't look as mean as I described, and in all actuallity Greg is one of the nicest guys I know. Greg is a staple in the Oklahoma Hardcore scene, and also a devout straightedger. He and his wife Ashley Terry can be found at regular creative social outings like, LIVE on The Plaza, Mustache Bash, and various art and music shows. Greg is a great guy and if you ever see him around, do yourself a favor and introduce yourself to him. Greg's self analysis is as follows, "I am a viking living in modern day Oklahoma City. Nerding is a verb and I do it well. Star Wars, straight edge and bicycles. Most of my favorite tees are band shirts."

 Here are Greg's favorite tees:

CHAMPION : AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004

"Champion Austrailian Tour Tee: Champion very quickly became one of my favorite bands. Straight edge has always been important to me and Champion always had a way of saying what I was thinking without using a hammer to do it. This shirt was on my back for show after show after show. It's withstood pulls and tears, pile ons, footprints, and many a sing-along. It's one of my most comfortable tees. it's sweat stained and well worn. It was a harder one to track down. I wanted it because it has a koala bear wearing an X-rated Swatch. Come on. That rules."

BANE : LIVE THE LIFE THAT YOU LOVE

"This band has been kicking me in the nuts for 10 years now. Literally. It seems like every time I see them Aaron Bedard seems to put his Adidas shelltoe right into my junk. I never seem to notice until later. I'm usually too pre-occupied with shouting and finger-pointing to some of the most inspiring words ever set to jams. I don't have many long sleeve t-shirts but this one I really love. The red cross calls to one of my favorite records of all time 'Give Blood'. The back of the shirt says 'Love the life you live.'"

OVER MY DEAD BODY TOUR TEE : FAVORITE SHIRT OF ALL TIME

"This shirt is such a favorite of mine I actually own two of them. I'm currently on the search for a third so if you see one of these in a size large, snatch it up, I'll hit you back. This is one of the more comfortable tees I own. It's long but not wide like some large t-shirts are. If this tee were lost, I would probably tear up. This is also a tribute tee, indicated by the RIP JMJ on the sleeve. I never got to see Over My Dead Body play. Sometimes that makes me sad, but like Toby says "People change but songs remain."

108 ANGEL STRIKE MAN

"Jacob Bannon has been designing a lot of things for the bands on his Deathwish Inc. label. This is one of them. 108 was part of a group of bands labeled as "Krishnacore" and contributed to one of my favorite eccentricities in hardcore. Lot's of personal struggle with faith and spirituality, personal morality and learning how to become a better you wrapped up in 108's music. This shirt is a go-to for me because it's so simple. It's comfortable and like other shirts that end up being my favorites, it's a longer large and the print takes up a good amount of real estate. Tall dudes know what's up."
