If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you know that this last week Kristen Vails and I took a long weekend and visited Denver, CO. We had a great time and saw lots of cool stuff. Once a year we try to visit a city to see as much of the local culture as possible. I'm lucky that Kristen has the patience to wait while I snap photos of graffiti or slap stickers on stuff. Here's some photos of our trip, and a little commentary about what we took from the Denver local culture.
The following photos were all located on heavily trafficed areas of town, barely hidden, and openly encouraged by surrounding businesses. Support Local Art!
After touring the art districts around town, we headed out to hike Red Rocks. The deer wandered within 40 feet of us as we hiked....we also caught a glimpse of this bobcat if you can see him:
Then we watched Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket at Red Rocks Amphitheatre!
When we returned our rental car, we didn't have a way to get across town. Luckily Denver provides a bike share system that only costs $8 a day. This is very similar to Oklahoma City's new Spokies system. If you don't have a bike and need to get around downtown, check it out because it's very worth it.
Definitely go check out the 1-Up....
If you're travling through Denver, here are some other cool things to check out; I Heart Denver, TS Skate Shop, Denver Museum of Contemporary Art, The Mayan Theatre, Jiberish Clothing Co, Snooze, Jelly, and Great Divide Brewery. Thanks for the great hospitality Denver!
