Our good friend, Jake Beeson, will be showing art at the shop on December 28th! I first saw Jake's work at Made You Look 2009 in the back of the old IAO Gallery. I don't know if he remembers it, but we swapped phone numbers and to this day my phone reads "Jake UHONA." I didn't know his last name at the time and his art pieces were titled Unsung Heroes Of Neurological Affliction, so I ran with it. What stood out to me about his work was the superior cleanliness of the line work and simplicity of the color. At the time, I was definitely over working most (if not all) of my artwork, and Jake's work perfectly balanced solid color and bold black outline. While his style is still similar, it has matured greatly in the last few years.
Along with being a great artist, Jake is a genuinely genuine individual. When our paths cross at art shows or paint jams, Jake is always humble, polite, and carrying a smile on his face. I am very excited to show Jake's work in two weeks and I strongly encourage you to come out for a great show. Here are a few sneak peeks from new artwork Jake has been working on, and if you want to see more in the meantime, visit his website here.
