Thunder Panel Auction

This last year, I had the opportunity to paint and install a mural on the side of The Cage basketball courts in beautiful Downtown OKC! Downtown OKC Inc, was incredibly helpful, hospitable, and professional with their assistance in getting my temporary mural approved and promoted. I am very thankful for the opportunity to work with their team in creating a public piece of art for the duration of the Thunder's '16-'17 basketball season. I hope you got the chance to check out the work in person. It was a blast to paint and install.

Now that the season is over, these panels must be deinstalled. They got a lot of wear and tear, but still look good. Currently, they are in the back of my truck and I don't have a place to permanently store them.

Together, the 1/4" wood panels are 28' long and 8' tall. They have slight weather wear, and have small holes/cracks in them from where we installed them with zip-ties to the basketball court fence. Despite the wear, I think these panels would still look great installed in someone's garage, game room, or gym. I want to offer them up for auction via Instagram and Facebook.

If interested in purchasing these panels, visit @TreeAndLeaf on Instagram, or Facebook.com/treeandleaf and place your bid in the comments section. This is a flash sale, highest bid above $200 will get them delivered to your place anywhere up to 20 miles from the Plaza! The auction will end tomorrow at 10pm! I'll update the comments periodically with current highest bid.

Have fun! Email us if you have questions!

In late 2014 I made a proposal as part of Downtown Oklahoma City's Artist Invitational Program. The proposal was approved, however the location for the mural I originally proposed ended up not working out. With a lot of help from folks like, AJ Kirkpatrick, Romy Owens, Jane Jenkins, Staci Sanger, and Jill Delozier, we finally found a viable location. In the end, although the project took a little while to get figured out, we ended up with the best scenario, and I even got to tweak my original image to include a couple of the Thunder's biggest personalities!

This temporary mural will be affixed to the side of the Downtown Community Basketball Courts for about a month. I'm so flattered to be invited by OKC to contribute to the art landscape of Downtown OKC.

The mural is located on the corner of Hudson and Reno on the North side of the basketball courts. It is well lit at night and has a walkway right in front of it, perfect for taking some snapshots and selfies as you walk to Thunder home games!

The characters I created were a ton of fun. I love drawing cartoons, and capturing the likeness of people is a big challenge to me. Luckily, Russ and Steven have some notable characteristics and personalities that made them fun to draw. I hope they enjoy the cartoons!

Huge thanks to everyone involved in getting this project completed; Romy, AJ, Jill, Staci, Jane, and all the other fine folks involved with the Downtown Artists Invitational Project. THANK YOU!!!
