Ben Nockles approached me the other day about doing some painting for the inside of his new bookstore in Midtown, Commonplace Books. He asked if I would paint our 'Love Thy Neighbor' image and I happily obliged! When it comes to murals, I love painting messages. This is one that I am very happy to have had the opportunity to paint and I hope I can paint it again. A big thanks to Ben at Commonplace for letting me visit, talk about books and retail, and speak my peace in mural form! I anxiously await their opening and encourage you to support them as well!
I've had the opportunity recently to paint with a few of my best friends; Tanner Frady, Ashley Smith, and Jake Beeson! We have known each other for the better half of a decade. We've painted a lot of walls together, and for Tanner and I, this most recent mural was the biggest we've completed. Jake is a seasoned veteran, so tackling this 240'x20' wall in Yukon was a small feat.
One thing I appreciate most about painting with Jake, Tanner, and Ashley is their ability to be professional and not take themselves too seriously at the same time. This type of casual attitude lends for a really fun and stress free atmosphere, even when approaching and enormous project.
Tanner (Frady Cat Sign Co.) rounded up this job and recruited Jake to layout the design, Ashley and I were support staff just lending a hand wherever we could. The 'mural' part of this job took about 5 days, and the signage that Tanner did took an additional 3 days. All and all, we're very pleased to have had the opportunity to leave a mark on Yukon in a big way!
